Thanksgiving 2012

We traveled back to Hilton for Thanksgiving this year and celebrated with Opa and Yaya. It was a great mini-vacation for us and a much needed break from the norm. We were able to see Oma and Papa and visit the Rochester Planitarium and also go to the Garden Center with Jane, Doug, and Jeff and then have a little pizza party.   Fun was had by all!

Get together with Cousins

It had been too long since we had gotten together with Katja, Ron, and Ryan so in mid November we had them over for a little pizza party. The boys had a lot of fun together and it was great for us to be able to catch up.

Never ending raking

Our large tree in the back is the last to blossom in the Spring and the last to drop its leaves in the Fall. This makes for a never ending raking season!! But lots of fun for the boys and their friends.

Long days

Jake, Luke and I were still adjusting to Zach's full day of school. Most days fly by because they are all at school in the morning but Monday is our day together and we often check out a park, the library, etc.....and of course Costco and the grocery store too!

Hurricane Sandy put a twist on the Halloween schedule this year. Typically, trick-or-treat is scheduled for 10/31, but with the "storm" (which resulted in some rain and winds in Pittsburgh, nothing extreme), it was moved to Saturday 11/2.   On 10/31, we decided to to go out to dinner and see the movie Hotel Transylvana -FUN!   I was scheduled to be out of town with girlfriends (Chataqua) so I missed the trick-or-treating fun.....but the boys had a great time with Eric and friends.

Anniversary #8

This year we celebrated by heading down to Lawrenceville to check out Piccolo Forno. We had a great dinner followed by a coffee and window shopping in Shadyside. Very blessed and happy!!!

Columbus Day Weekend

Matt, Christine, Jane, and Doug came down to visit for the holiday weekend. It was Christine's first time to the burg so we had to take her to the Phillips' favorites: Duquesne Incline, Station Square, IKEA, and Chik-fil-a!! We had a great weekend!!

First grade picture day

Jake & Luke - 5!

The boys birthday fell on a Monday this year - hard to believe they were born on a Monday FIVE years ago! We had fun celebrating by driving up to Eric's office and having lunch together. For dinner, they each chose a friend and we went to Chuck E Cheese for pizza and games. It was a great day!

Rochester Half

It was supposed to rain but it turned out to be a perfect morning for a race. It was Jeff's first half-marathon, and his 20th Birthday! We had a great run....Jeff did awesome the first 10 miles...we slowed down a tad after that but finished strong in just over 2 hours! I would love to do it again next year! Eric, Zach, Jane and Doug were there to cheer us on!

Birthday celebration in Rochester

We traveled back to Hilton for the weekend and the boys were lucky enough to have a family birthday celebration for the big #5!!  We arrived in Hilton on Friday evening after picking Jeff up in Fredonia and then "dropping him off" in Leroy with Jane and Doug. We arrived to a festive house as Yaya had decorated for the boys!! Despite the rain on Saturday we were able to go for a walk before heading to the Dinosaur BBQ for a tastey birthday dinner with Oma, Papa, Jane, Doug and Jeff. After dinner everyone came back to Hilton for some presents, cake and icecream. Fun was had by ALL....especially the birthday boys!

Pirates vs Cubs

Jane, Doug, Jeff, and Brad (Jeff's friend, aka Fred) came to town for a quick visit and to go to the Pirates game Saturday night. We played games Friday night, ran errands in the rain Saturday and then the rain stopped and we headed downtown on the T to grab dinner and go to the game. It was a perfect night for a game, and an excellent firework display after the game. Sunday we had breakfast at the Dorstop and then they got on the road.
