Strep hits the Falls House

So, we got back from Florida on Friday night and had no idea what the week ahead of us was going to bring. Monday, Luke had a fever and was acting very strange all day - I decided to bring him to the doctor on Tuesday because he was complaining of a sore throat and had gotten sick. It's a good thing because he had strep throat - yuck! The doc gave him a shot of penicillin in the rear for fear that if he had an oral antibiotic he wouldn't be able to keep it down. Poor Lucas!

So the week went on, Wednesday I picked Zach up from school (at 11:15AM) and as soon as I saw him I knew he didn't feel well. He said he had a sore throat!  We were back at the doctor's by 2:30 and had our second strep diagnosis - YUCK!!

This is where my memory gets a little foggy...... I'm not sure if Jake started complainig about his butt right away or if it was a week later?!? But anyway, Jake started waking up in the middle of the night saying that his butt hurt. Eric and I didn't think much of it at first...but then it happened like every other night for a week or so. It didn't look bad - maybe a little rash.....but nothing of major concern. After the week of being woke up at night (remember he is not complaining during the day) - we called the pediatician and explained Jake's issue and they diagnosed....pinworms!! YUCK!!! SO, Jake had to take the medicine for pinworms and I have to clean anything and everything!!! and I was majorly grossed out!! The doctor said the medicine should clear it up within a day or two but that wasn't the case - Jake continued to complain about his bottom. After the third day we made an appointment and brought him in to the pediatrician. Now here is the kicker - Jake did not have pinworms...he actually had strep on his butt!!! The poor kid has no tonsils so the infection showed up on his butt!!! He was put on an antibiotic and better the next day!! (so glad because that meant we didn't have pinworms in our house!! YUCK)

But we weren't done yet.....that same week of Jake's diagnosis of butt strep - we were back at the office for Zach's second time with strep!! At this point I was completely done!!

Other than that, we were healthy all Fall/Winter/Spring!
